The ‘Unity in the Community’ Mural’s Dedication Before the Dedication

“OMG! We did it! After EIGHT years, wooohooooo!!! 🥳”

This was Maria Cortez’s response to the ‘Unity in the Community’ mural dedication last Saturday. To all of the community members who’ve worked tirelessly for many years to see their community transformed for the better: thank you!

The dedication event was a beautiful reminder of all that goes into enhancing the quality of life in our community. Some projects take years of red tape, advocacy, and community planning to come to fruition, and this mural was no exception. Nearly a decade in the making, but it’s finally here and it’s GORGEOUS.

This day was the final dedication of the mural, but we pause a moment to honor those whose years of dedication to City Heights led to this day of dedication. We are humbled and inspired by those far-sighted community advocates with the vision to see things through, even when it seems hopeless. You are heroes, and this mural is for you!
